New, from MULTIGON, a Revolution in Probe Fixation:
Until now, one of the most significant challenges of Transcranial Doppler monitoring has been achieving stable probe fixation to maintain probe angle and quality of Signal.
Camilo R. Gomez, M.D., based on his years of research and clinical experience with TCD, has developed SignalGrip, a patented breakthrough in probe fixation technology to address TCD monitoring challenges. When placed in warm water, the SignalGrip form becomes malleable and may be custom molded to the patient's head. The material hardens quickly, resulting in a custom fixation device that may be stored and used repeatedly for the same patient.
This patented and unique approach offers the following advantages over other devices:
- Custom fit vastly improves security and stability of probe and angle to maintain quality of Signal
- May be precisely and easily replaced in original position if accidentally dislodged during surgery
- Consistent probe placement for serial studies, as angle and position remain constant
- Molded device eliminates necessity to relocate window for serial studies, especially useful for personnel not familiar with TCD who perform studies
SignalGrip has been engineered to include the latest technology to facilitate TCD monitoring. Working closely with Dr. Gomez and the biomedical team within the UAB Health System, MULTIGON incorporates these key elements into the device:
- Extra large probe surface area, especially useful in patients with less
than optimal windows.
- Extended probe cable permits greater distance between patient and TCD system.
- Roller ball with locking mechanism to adjust and secure insonation angle
- Removable probe discs to customize SignalGrip for right side, left side or bilateral monitoring
- Low-profile probe with removable handle which may be detached after optimization of probe angle
Customizing SignalGrip is fast and easy.
SignalGrip is placed in warm water until the material becomes clear. Then, it may be custom molded to the patients head. The material will stretch to fit any size head, and the probe disc may be positioned over the insonation window. The entire molding process takes just a few minutes and does not require any special equipment. After it is molded, SignalGrip will retain its shape and may be used immediately or stored for follow-up studies. Engineered through a joint cooperation between MULTIGON and the UAB Health System.
SignalGrip is available for the Neurovision series and other commercial systems.
